Evelyne Dengler-Mahé
Austria Guide and translator
Tours in French, German, English and Italian
Born in Breton and a tireless globetrotter, I was successively trained as a translator, alternative practitioner, foreign language teacher and finally Austria Guide. What these fields of activity have in common is my role as a “passanger” between languages, countries, cultures and world views as well as between past, present and future. In history, I am accordingly interested in the key periods when new trends in art and culture emerge and the human spirit becomes awake and creative again, such as in the Secession or in Red Vienna. My areas of specialization include medicine and the depiction of women and children in painting and the visual arts.
Having spent years in West Africa, Russia and China, I have become painfully aware of the effects of climate change, but also of soil sealing and urban desertification. I know what it means when you can’t see the sky for months on end, have to stand in queues to admire the cherry blossom or have to live in an acoustically unbearable concrete jungle and, above all, have no access to drinking water. This has led to my commitment to work as a tour guide for our common future on this planet, as part of the fight for climate protection and climate justice.
